The Root-Cause Seeker

When feeling down, your brain instantly activates detective mode, determined to find the logic and reason behind "why I feel this way." This behavior of "dissecting emotion with absolute rationality" actually masks your deep fear of "losing control, the unknown, and pure feeling"; you fear that if you don't dismantle emotions into understandable steps, you'll be swallowed by chaos, so you use "over-analysis" to build a false sense of security, refusing to admit that some pain has no answers. But constantly forcing emotions to be reasonable costs you the chance to be naturally healed by feelings. Try just telling yourself "I really hurt right now" without asking why next time you're sad; when you learn to allow emotions to simply exist, your rationality will truly become strength.
