Privacy Policy

Welcome to PsyPals! This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information generated when you use our website. By using PsyPals, you agree to the practices described below.

1. Data Collection & Anonymization

We do not collect any Personally Identifiable Information (PII), including names, email addresses, or contact details. To prevent abuse and ensure fair service for all users, we apply a one-way cryptographic hash (SHA-256) to incoming IP addresses. Raw IP addresses are never stored or logged. Your quiz responses are processed in real time solely to generate your results and are never linked to any identifiable individual.

2. Automatically Collected Information

When you visit PsyPals, our servers or third-party services may automatically collect non-personal technical data, such as browser type and version, device type (desktop / mobile), pages visited and time spent, and referring website (referrer). This information is used in aggregate to improve website performance and user experience, and is never used to identify individuals.

3. Cookies & Third-Party Advertising

We use Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site or other websites. Cookies are small text files stored on your device that help remember preferences and analyze traffic. You may disable cookies through your browser settings, or opt out of personalized advertising at any time via Google's Ads Settings (g.co/adsettings). Disabling cookies may affect some website functionality.

4. Quiz Data & Sessions

Each time you start a quiz, a temporary session token is generated and stored in our server-side cache (Redis) for up to 30 minutes. This token is used solely to ensure the integrity of your quiz submission. It is deleted immediately after submission and is single-use only — resubmission is not possible. We do not use localStorage or sessionStorage to retain your quiz progress.

5. Information Sharing & Third-Party Services

We do not sell, trade, or transfer your personal information to any outside parties. We may use the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:

  • Google AdSense: advertising delivery
  • Google Analytics (if enabled): traffic analysis

We encourage you to review the privacy policies of these services to understand how they handle your data.

6. Children's Privacy

PsyPals is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected data from a child, please contact us using the information below and we will address it promptly.

7. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect our servers and data transmissions, including HTTPS encryption. While we strive to protect your data, no method of internet transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in our services or legal requirements. Material changes will be announced on this page. We recommend checking this page regularly. Your continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
